The John T. Hoggard High School Band Booster program supports three prestigious bands -  Marching, Concert, and Symphonic - as well as Color Guard. Filled with passion, talent, and integrity, each group has its own unique style and has earned many awards for many memorable performances.

Marching Band

John T. Hoggard's award-winning marching band has been in existence since the 1970s. The band has won multiple awards from various competitions around the state of North Carolina. During the season, which lasts from the beginning of August through November, the band marches at all home football games, as well as competes in several competitions.

Concert & Symphonic Bands

John T. Hoggard's Concert Band (freshman and sophomores) and Symphonic Band (juniors and seniors) perform on stage throughout the second half of the school year. The bands compete annually at MPA, a musical competition in which bands perform for scores based on ability. This aspect of band, though not as time-comsuming as marching, still requires extensive rehearsal and commitment.

Color Guard

The award-winning Color Guard at John T. Hoggard High School is a part of the Marching Band that performs without the use of wind instruments or percussion. Various props are used, from flags to rifles to hoops, depending on the show. Color Guard members attend the same events as the Marching Band and are held to the same standards and commitment. There are no auditions for Color Guard. As long as a student chooses Color Guard as a class elective, he or she becomes a member.
